Invest in your relationship with yourself

Family of four posing outdoors at sunset in a park, after working with Life Coach Dr. Mais Khourdaji, PhD in Ohio.

We all have a tendency to put others first, but in doing so, we can sometimes neglect our relationship with ourselves. We lose sight of what our own personal goals are for daily happiness. I have been guilty of this myself. It is something that we have to recognize and constantly work towards improving. Those are the skills that I can teach you in our work together. Let me be your advocate and show you a kinder, gentler way to treat the most important person in your life—yourself.

Improve your relationship with others

Be your best self, alone and with others, and cultivate deep and lasting friendships and relationships. Learn how to set boundaries— a very important act of self-care. Whether those relationships are with your spouse or partner, with your children, your parents, or coworkers and colleagues, boundaries are an important part of every relationship. In our work together, we will figure out where you lack appropriate boundaries. I will teach you how to create them so you not only feel more secure and content in your relationships, but can also recognize when a relationship is no longer contributing to your life in a healthy way.

Pinpoint your triggers and sources of stress or anxiety.

So many clients I have spoken with often think that they have identified what causes them stress and/or anxiety. But as we delve a little deeper, we often find that they don't really understand what it is that triggers them. For example, maybe you know what makes you feel anxious, but you don't fully understand why. This may be why you feel overwhelmed or stuck in a routine that makes you feel unhappy with yourself. You are the only one who is in charge of your happiness. But that is only possible if you understand where you have lost control of it.

“Dr. Mais taught me how to put myself first, as a wife, and as a mother of four children. I never realized how many insecurities I held within myself that I was hiding within these other roles. I am forever thankful for that.
